ABN AMRO Capital Markets Group (AMCAP), a division of ABN AMRO Mortgage Group, Inc. (AAMG), has hired John Buchanan as its national sales manager. In his new position, Buchanan will oversee the AMCAP sales team and their sales efforts.

“Buchanan’s background and experience make him the ideal person to drive AMCAP’s sales efforts,” said Maria Fregosi, AAMG group senior vice president and capital markets manager. “In a normalized, purchase-driven mortgage market, AMCAP is an exceedingly important business channel for AAMG. As national sales manager, Buchanan will support the overall success of AAMG by increasing AMCAP’s penetration into secondary and institutional investment markets.”

As national sales manager, Buchanan is responsible for ensuring that AAMG’s products are effectively presented and delivered to AMCAP’s institutional investor clients. He is also responsible for all systems related to client management. In addition, Buchanan will coordinate all of AMCAP’s marketing efforts to this diverse client base.

Buchanan has held a variety of positions at ABN AMRO and LaSalle Bank Corp. in Chicago, IL, including managing director and sales manager for its institutional fixed income operation. He has also served as vice president of marketing at ABN AMRO Bank’s headquarters in Amsterdam. Prior to this position, Buchanan served as ABN AMRO, Inc.’s business manager for its U.S. fixed income distribution operation.

Buchanan holds a bachelor of arts degree in politics from Princeton University. He currently lives in Chicago with his wife and three children, serves as an elder at Fourth Presbyterian Church and is a board member of Chicago Lights, a Chicago non-profit focused on educational issues.
