State Street’s Joe Antonellis will retire later this summer after serving almost 25 years at the U.S. based custodian bank.

Antonellis, State Street’s vice chairman and a GC Legend, has led the bank’s international strategy for its Global Services and Global Markets units since 2010.

His responsibilities will be assumed by Jeff Conway and Wai Kwong, who will lead State Street’s European and Asia-Pacific businesses respectively.

“I feel very fortunate to have worked with Joe for a large portion of his career, and what stands out the most for me is his passion for the business and concern for our clients. These qualities have made him successful in the significant responsibilities he’s held here at State Street,” says Jay Hooley, chairman and CEO, State Street.

Antonellis joined State Street in 1991, starting off in its Mutual Fund Services division. He was promoted to executive vice president in 1999 and headed the Institutional Investor Services unit.

In 2003 he was named head of Informational Technology and Global Securities Services, and in 2006, was appointed vice chairman with additional responsibility as head of Investor Services in North America and Global Investment Manager Outsourcing Services.

“This has been an incredible journey for me and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed, particularly working with our outstanding team of professionals and clients globally. I am looking forward now to slowing the pace a little and spending more time with my family,” adds Antonellis.
