BNY Mellon has confirmed Rohan Singh as Asia Pacific (APAC) head of asset servicing following his departure from Northern Trust.

Singh will take up the role on 27 June and will be responsible for driving growth opportunities in the APAC asset servicing business as well as leveraging the custodian’s technology platforms including its NEXEN ecosystem.

He will also oversee the expansion of BNY Mellon’s local capabilities in the region.

Global Custodian reported earlier this month that Singh had been linked with a role at BNY Mellon following confirmation of his departure from Northern Trust, where he was country head for Singapore and head of South East Asia.

Singh, who succeeds Francis Braeckevelt in the role, will be based in Singapore and reports to Samir Pandiri, executive vice president of BNY Mellon and CEO of asset servicing.

“Rohan brings nearly three decades of asset servicing experience, working within large organisations across Asian markets and demonstrating a proven track record of increasing the management and relationship skills under his leadership,” said Pandiri.

“His expertise and industry knowledge will be critical as BNY Mellon builds on strategic growth opportunities within alternative investments, exchange-traded funds, real estate, private equity and middle office solutions in the region.”

Singh initially joined Northern Trust in 2007 as head of sales for the APAC region.

He then became managing director and country head for Australia in 2011 before taking up his most recent role in 2015.

He also previously worked for Citibank and State Street in various business management and sales roles across the APAC region.
