Deutsche Brse launched Xetra Release 7.0 in cash trading yesterday. The main innovations are technical refinements of the system software as well as the Xetra BEST functionality. The new release was integrated into the Xetra trading participants’ systems over the weekend and got off to a smooth start yesterday, says Deutsche Borse. The participants had previously tested the new Xetra version in a technical-functional simulation phase for about two months.
With Release 7.0, Deutsche Brse has further developed the interface for adaptation to the trading participants’ system environment as well as the front end. The additional trading service Xetra BEST supports the immediate execution of private investors’ orders at a better price than they would have currently achieved in the Xetra order book. Xetra BEST can be used by banks and securities trading firms as of September 2nd. The Xetra trading participants will then be able to offer the service to their retail customers.
Some 10,000 securities are traded on Xetra, the electronic trading platform for the cash market. Xetra has about 400 trading participants from 18 countries. It has a market share of 94 percent in German equities trading.
