Sterling Commerce, a subsidiary of SBC Communications, expanded its B2B platform with the launch of the Sterling Integrator (SI) 4.0.
SI 4.0 provides an integrated platform upon which to conduct business with globally distributed business partners. SI 4.0 offers full-featured B2B communications and management, translation, enterprise integration, business process management (BPM) and business activity monitoring (BAM) in one suite.
“Most CEOs face the challenge of meeting corporate growth objectives without a platform that can extend the value of applications to the very business partners upon which this growth relies,” said Sam Starr, chief executive officer of Sterling Commerce.
Leica Microsystems will utilise the suite’s capabilities to enhance operating practices and improve its integration capabilities with its warehouse network, distributors and US customers in order to ensure accurate, real-time information is available to all its supply chain partners, according to Sterling Commerce.
“We have increased visibility and control throughout our organisation by integrating information from different systems into a single business process, allowing the IT department to talk the language of the business,” said Derek Payne, fulfillment technology manager for Leica Microsystems. “The main benefit has been the time saved in admin, logistics and services delivery. Of the 25k transactions we conducted in January a whole day of admin time was shaved off many different areas of the business.”
