The international rating agency Fitch Ratings has recently assigned Serbia a BB- rating.

The current level of public finance rating matches the levels currently held by Turkey, Brazil, Ukraine, and Indonesia, HVB Bank’s Serbian representative Milovan Protic said.

Explaining the rating, Fitch analysts cited Serbia’s rise in improved political stability and a clearer EU perspective, better management of public finances, GDP growth, and the continuation of structural reforms.

Fitch’s BB- rating represents an improvement in comparison to Serbia’s first rating assigned by Standard & Poor’s (S&P) in November 2004.
