The accumulated value of trading volume from the beginning of the year was EUR 349.42 billion, 23.5% up on the same period last year.

The number of bargains this month was 1.2 million, which represents an 18% increase on the same month last year.

Trading on the Latibex market in May exceeded EUR 38.9 million, which represents a 27.7% increase on May last year. The number of transactions since the beginning of the year has increased 66.7%.

The return on the IBEX 35 index was 4.73% in May, bringing the accumulated return on the index from January to 3.81%. The return on the IBEX 35 with dividends in the same period was 5.43%.

The FTSE Latibex Top posted a return of 14.74%, and the accumulated return on the index over the year was 19.74%

Trading volumes on the warrants and certificates market in May came in at EUR 165.4 million, 25.4% up on the same month last year.

Trading volume in MEFF options and futures in May was 1.96 million contracts, 33% up on the same month last year. Trading volume was particularly heavy in Futures on Single Stocks, with 735,721 contracts traded, 263% up on the year.

The number of contracts traded in the first 5 months of the year amounted to 13.2 million, 31% up on the same period last year. It is worth noting the trading volume in Futuros Ibex 35, which amounted to over 2 million contracts, 7.3% up on May 2004. Also important was the performance shown by Futures on single stocks, which came in at 5.4 million contracts, 77% up on the year and Opciones Mini IBEX, which reached 1.9 million contracts, 40% up on the year.

Corporate Debt trading on AIAF in May reached EUR 69.44 billion, a 73.1 % increase compared to the same period last year. The accumulated value posted from the beginning of the year was EUR 342,226 billion, 70.2% up on the year.

New issues in May came in at EUR 32.47 bn, 33.7% up on the same month in 2004. This brings the figure for the first five months of the year to EUR 167.34 billion, 31.1% up on the last year.

The outstanding balance at the end of May was EUR 361.08 billion, 51.7% up on the same period in 2004. Net financing for the first five months of the year came at EUR 53.05 billion, 31.5% up on 2004.

In May trading volume on the public debt trading platform SENAF was EUR 13.34 billion.
