JPMorgan Chase Chairman Bill Harrison says he will retire at the end of the year, passing the reins to Jamie Dimon, the current chief executive. Dimon will continue his current duties in addition to his new ones, a press release from the company said. Harrison became CEO of the company in 2001. He started at Chemical Bank, which merged with Chase a decade ago.
“Bill Harrison has been a tremendous partner and mentor to me,” says Dimon. “I will miss Bill but hope to continue to benefit from his wise counsel” Dimon, who is president of JPMorgan, must be elected by the bank’s board of directors before being confirmed as chairman.
