At the end of the third quarter, Canadian private equity investors have set a record for fundraising with C$7.9 billion, already $4 billion ahead of last years total of C$3.9 billion, according to Reuters.
The increase in fundraising is headed by the buyout sector, says the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association in a press release.
Buyout funds have raised C$6.4 billion in new capital this year, compared to 2005’s total of C$1.44 billion, according to Thomson Financial, a research firm.
More companies have decided to go private or raise capital from private sources, creating more opportunities for private equity investors, says Rick Nathan, CVCA president in a press release.
