JPMorgan Chase & Co. will pay a USD2.2 million settlement to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in a claim filed under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The claim was against Bank One Corp., which JPMorgan Chase acquired in 2004.

The settlement will be distributed amongst 222 employees whose employment was terminated following long-term disability leave. Bank One was accused of properly guaranteeing a group of employees a return to jobs after being medically released their on leaves of absences of more than six months.

“Chase is settling this case to resolve this matter expeditiously, and also because this agreement reaffirms its commitment to providing reasonable accommodations to its employees,” says a spokesman for JPMorgan Chase.
