The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) says that a CBOE membership, or seat, traded Wednesday, 6 December for USD1,775,000, a new all-time high at CBOE. And yesterday, a seat was sold for USD1,750,000. Both seat sales topped the previous record-setting price of USD1,700,000 on 1 December.

Year-to-date, CBOE seat prices have risen 103 percent from the first sale of the year on 5 January for USD875,000. Through this morning, a total of 108 CBOE seats have traded so far this year, with 17 trading for USD1.5 million or more.

CBOE’s Membership Department facilitates the purchase and sale of seats using an auction method in which bids and offers are submitted to the Exchange. When a bid matches an offer, a sale is made.

CBOE, the largest options marketplace in the US and the creator of listed options, is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
