Clayton Heijman, the former chief commercial officer at Fortis Prime Banking Solutions, has re-surfaced as managing director and head of hedge funds, asset managers and pension funds at Calyon, the corporate and investment banking arm of Credit Agricole.
Heijman, who is a member of the council of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) in London, left Fortis in January after nine years with the Dutch bank. He worked in custody at one of its predecessors, Mees Pierson, before a spell at Goldman Sachs.
His new position is similar to the role he held at Fortis, where he was in charge of developing its business with hedge funds, funds-of-funds and other alternative investors. At Calyon he leads a group of bankers servicing alternative and traditional fund managers and institutional investors.
Credit Agricole has declared an interest in acquiring a 50% stake in FIMAT, the investment banking arm of Societe Generale, and it also owns a substantial stake in CACEIS, the custodian banking and fund administration business formed by the merger of the securities services arms of Credit Agricole and CDC IXIS.
