The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) won the award for Best Achievement of Six Sigma in Service & Transactional Environments on 24 October, 2007.
The awards were presented after extensive reviews by an independent, international panel of 21 leaders from business, industry and government. The honours recognise significant accomplishments by the recipients.
DTCC is the largest financial services post-trade infrastructure organisation in the world, settling more than $1.5 quadrillion in securities transactions last year. DTCC applied Six Sigma methodologies to improve its procedures for enrolling new customers.
Two Lean Six Sigma Projects were launched in 2006 with highlights including a reduction of 35% in the enrollment cycle time, exceeding the project’s own goal; overall customer satisfaction reached an all-time high of 91%; customers have access to DTCC’s network of services more quickly and are, therefore, billable sooner.
Honours were also awarded to eight other U.S., Canadian, Indian and South African companies for adopting and applying Lean and Six Sigma processes to achieve significant improvements in automotive, banking, healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, and trucking industry applications.
Established to identify outstanding organisational success through the application of Six Sigma methodologies, the Global Six Sigma Awards program received entries from other organizations based in India, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the U.S. for the 2007 competition.
The accompanying Global Six Sigma Summit is the largest international gathering of CEOs and senior executives who apply Six Sigma processes. Keynote speakers for the Summit included best-selling author Jim Collins and Dr. Mikel J. Harry, principal architect of Six Sigma and one of the world’s leading authorities within his field.
