On 1 February 2008, the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) will be introducing three new indices which will measure the total returns of the constituent securities on both price movements and dividend receipts.

The three new indices are the Local Asset Status Index (LASI), which will comprise of all domestic companies and all foreign companies awarded local asset status by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning; the Foreign Resources Sector Index (FRSI) which will comprise of all foreign resource sector companies listed on the bourse and the Domestic Financial Sector Index (DFSI) will comprise of all domestic financial services companies listed on the BSE.

The existing Domestic Companies Index (DCI) and Foreign Companies Index (FCI) will cease to be utilised by the BSE from 31 January 2008 and will be replaced with the three above mentioned indices.
