Instinet Incorporateds, an electronic trading and agency-only brokerage services, ATS (alternative trading system) platforms around the world and global suite of algorithms are now directly available to users of the Charles River Investment Management System (Charles River IMS).

“Instinet has long pursued a global policy of openness with our liquidity, and today’s agreement with Charles River is further evidence of our commitment to this philosophy,” says Frank Freitas, head of global product strategy at Instinet. “We believe this agreement will help improve the workflow of Charles River’s global client base, and at the same time potentially add liquidity to our global ATS platforms.”

“Charles River is committed to providing our global clients with new trading tools and strategies that streamline workflow and facilitate best execution,” says Tom Driscoll, vice president, sales and marketing, Charles River Development. “Charles River IMS offers seamless access to international liquidity pools across all asset classes, which now includes Instinet’s global pools of agency-only liquidity and algorithms.”

With the integration, Instinet’s global platforms are now available as a “destination” within the Charles River IMS. Accessible via a single order ticket, these include the Instinet Execution Experts suite of global algorithms, Instinet’s eight dark pools around the world (Instinet CBX, VWAP Cross, Intraday Cross and Overnight Cross in the US; BlockMatch in Europe; and CBX Japan, JapanCrossing and KoreaCross in Asia) and the Chi-X platforms in Europe and Canada.

Instinet and Charles River Development are longtime partners. FIX connectivity integration has existed between the firms’ respective trading platforms since 2002, and more recently, Instinet’s ATS platforms have become endpoints within the broker-neutral Charles River Network.
