Guernsey Finance, a promotional agency for the Island’s finance industry, is coordinating the trip to the ‘Big Apple’ where it is exhibiting at the Private Equity International CFOs & COOs Forum taking place on Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 January at The Roosevelt Hotel.

The team from Guernsey includes Joe Truelove, Head of Business Development in the Guernsey Corporate Clients Department of fund administrator and custodian Kleinwort Benson; Christopher Anderson, Partner at law firm Bedell Cristin; and John Clacy, Partner, Deloitte.

As well as attending the CFOs & COOs Forum, the team will also be meeting with existing and new contacts in the city and speaking with journalists from some of the leading specialist private equity publications on the US east coast.

“Guernsey has carved out a particular niche as a leading domicile for private equity funds,” says Peter Niven, chief executive, Guernsey Finance. “A major example of this business is KKR Private Equity Investors LP – the Guernsey limited partnership that raised US$5 billion before listing on the Euronext Amsterdam.”

“This transaction showcased our experience, expertise and innovation and therefore significantly enhanced our reputation among not just the European but also US lawyers and particularly those in New York.”

“Being on the ground in New York will be extremely valuable in helping us better gauge the current mood of the markets and the feeling about what lies in store for the funds industry and particularly the private equity sector during 2009.”
