CityIQ, an advisor to organisations in the financial services sector, announced the results of a recent survey into the automation of project processes. Highlights of the survey, which included responses from over 60+ financial services organisations, show that:

Just under 50% of respondents have no specialist software Most organisations struggled with obtaining management information about projects Those that invested in appropriate software didnt follow through with appropriate training Nearly 80% or respondents believed they were not making effective use of the tools they had Most organisations that took part in the survey were working to improve processes with many looking to invest in the next twelve to eighteen months.

When it comes to improving project processes particularly across projects, many organisations appear to be adopting a Make do and mend strategy, says Paul Wiltshire, managing director of CityIQ. They know they can do more to improve the consistency of project delivery but in many cases the budget just isnt there. And when project managers dont have the tools they need and their managers struggle to understand the project portfolio – quality suffers.
