Open Solutions Inc., a provider of integrated enabling technologies for financial services providers throughout the United States, Canada and other international markets, announced the promotion of George McGourty to senior vice president and general manager North American Credit Union Group, reporting to Ross Curtis, group executive vice president North America. McGourty joined Open Solutions in 2004 as vice president and national sales manager Credit Unions. McGourty has led a very successful team that has produced nearly $160 million in contract revenue since his arrival. And under his leadership, the same team signed 18 of the last 25 billion-dollar-plus credit unions that decided to replace their legacy core systems.
Over the course of his 25-year career in the financial services industry, McGourty has built and led several successful sales organizations. Prior to joining Open Solutions, he was senior vice president, Credit Union Business Development at Fidelity IFS and before that, he founded and led a network integration business that was later acquired by Fiserv. He began his career as a Field Service Engineer at Diebold, Inc., holds a BS in Finance from the University of Phoenix and is pursuing an MBA at the University of Florida.
What attracted me to Open Solutions and continues to motivate me is our commitment to keeping our products at the forefront of technology though heavy R&D investment, and our commitment to improving the skills of our people through Open Solutions University, says McGourty. My proudest achievement here is being able to attract and retain a world class sales and sales support team that is considered to be the best in the credit union industry.
McGourty replaces Blair Goulet, who joined Open Solutions in mid-2005 as the president of the then new Open Solutions Canada division. Goulet intends to take some time off with the eventual goal of leading another technology organization.
George was the clear choice to succeed Blair, who had successfully executed a growth strategy for our banking and payments business in Canada and then the U.S., says Stephen Cameron, president of Open Solutions. George is the right person to lead us into the next phase of our growth in North America because he adheres to his proven leadership philosophy: that nearly all business challenges can be overcome by a dedicated and empowered team. He creates positive environments where individuals and teams can reach their full potential, and we know that will be reflected in our continued growth.
