Sophis, a provider of cross-asset, front-to-back portfolio and risk management solutions, has secured double honours by winning Asia Risk’s 2010 Technology Company of the Year Award. It has also been ranked number one in equity derivatives pricing and analytics for the third consecutive year (and runner-up in equity derivatives trading systems) in Asia Risk’s Technology Rankings 2010.

“As Asia has emerged as the new global powerhouse, asset managers across the region are ramping up their risk and portfolio management systems to keep track of their increasing assets under management. Increasingly, they are turning to Sophis as their software provider of choice for the installation of front-to-back portfolio and risk management solutions.” says Asia Risk in their statement awarding Sophis the coveted win.

Asia Risk was particularly impressed by Sophis’ VALUE solution, which provides asset managers with a cross-asset portfolio and risk management solution dedicated to the buy-side made of four integrated components: front office/investment management; risk management; middle/back office; and finance and accounting. VALUE provides sell-side level risk management, financial and technological capabilities with the user-friendliness, connectivity and ease of implementation required by the buy-side. Also highly rated by Asia Risk was Sophis’ RISQUE solution, a cross-asset trade and risk management solution that enables investment banks to implement Straight Through Processing across their entire trading activity.

This marks the second time that Asia Risk has honoured Sophis with a top award, the first one being the Technology Vendor of the Year Award in 2007.

Asia Risk magazine has been rewarding institutions for excellence in risk management since 2000, and this year for Technology Company of the Year, vetted companies for 34 separate categories open to the region’s domestic banks and securities firms. Asia Risk looked for a technology firm that has best adapted a solution to suit the Asian market, or has developed an Asia-specific risk management or trading system. The vetting process consisted of the submission of a selection of deals, case studies and innovations completed by Sophis from August 2009 to July 2010 as well as interviews and client references, which played a pivotal role in the final decision.
