Philippe Metoudi is leaving Clearstream after 20 years with the company. The head of Client Relations Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa is leaving for personal reasons and at his own request, said a statement from Clearstream.
After 20 years with Clearstream, Philippe felt it was time to take a break and to step back, said Clearstream spokesman Nicolas Nonnenmacher. It is understood the departure is amicable and Metoudi will not be joining a competitor.
Metoudis mutually agreed departure date will be July 31 to ensure a smooth transition and handover of his responsibilities. His departure does not come with a change in Clearstream’s Asia business strategy, said Nonnenmacher.
Philippe Metoudi joined Clearstream on June 1 1992 as head of the Hong Kong office and has since held various management positions for Clearstream in Asia. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Global Custodian magazine at an event in Hong Kong last year.
In a letter to clients, seen beforehand by Global Custodian, Metoudi said: I feel blessed and honored to have participated in the incredible growth that Clearstream has witnessed over the past 20 years. Leaving such a great firm and so many talented colleagues is hard to do, and I know I will miss both the company and my colleagues.
Following Metoudis departure at the end of July, Clearstream will introduce a new organizational structure, effective August 1, for its Asian business and divide the growth region into a North and South section. Responsibility for the North region, which includes Clearstreams Hong Kong and Tokyo offices, will be in the hands of Alton Chan, who has been responsible for the Clearstream accounts in the Asian-Pacific region for the last 15 years. Robert Tabet will be responsible for South Asia, which includes Clearstreams Singapore and Dubai offices. Robert Tabet, who has been with Clearstream for 15 years, will remain the general manager of the Clearstream branch in Singapore. In their new roles Alton Chan and Robert Tabet will report directly to Clearstream CEO Jeffrey Tessler.
Alton Chan joined Clearstream in 1997 and is since based in Hong Kong, responsible for the customer relations in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea. He also represents Clearstream in several Asian market forums and initiatives. Robert Tabet joined Clearstream in 1997 and was then assigned to head of Business Development for the Middle East and Africa. In November 2009, he was appointed as general manager of Clearstreams Singapore branch, with responsibility for business development and strategy implementation in South Asia, Australasia, the Middle East and Africa.
