Augustine Kwakye-Agyekum has joined Societe Generale Securities Services (SGSS) as project manager, Africa.
His LinkedIn profile says he will work on various projects towards the expansion of SGSS into sub-Saharan Africa and he will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Global Custodian Legend has worked in custody for over 20 years, having led the African custody business of Stanbic, Barclays and Standard Chartered.
His most recent role saw the native Ghanaian move from Accra, where he was an adviser on custody services to HFC Bank,to Johannesburg to take up his latest position in February.
Kwakye-Agyekum’s custody career began in 1994, when he led the sub-Saharan regional custody for Standard Bank until 2003. From there he joined Barclays Bank and its successor Standard Chartered Bank. He served in Johannesburg, Mauritius and Dubai before resigning as head of custody sales for Standard Chartered Bank in 2012 to return home to Accra, in May of 2012 after 22 years abroad. He joined HFC, a public company formed in 1990 as the Home Finance Company to provide mortgage finance to Ghanaians, on a three-year contract.
