Global Custodian reveals winners of its inaugural Leaders in Custody Asia awards 2023

Global Custodian is delighted to announce the winners of its inaugural Leaders in Custody Asia awards, held at Raffles in Singapore last night.

BNP Paribas and Standard Chartered each took home three honours on the evening, while BNY Mellon, DBS, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Mizuho and State Street were among the organisations to pick up two awards.  

The event celebrated the outstanding securities services providers across the Asia Pacific region, including those who have excelled in Global Custodian’s Agent Bank surveys, alongside our Editors’ Choice, Innovation and Individual honours.  

In our Editors’ Choice section, State Street picked up the Asset Servicing Deal of the Year award for its landmark mandate with Australian Retirement Trust, while BNY Mellon took home the Best New Asset Servicing Project honour for its transformational investment accounting initiative with the Employees Provident Fund Board of Malaysia.  

Euroclear’s work to support first cross-listed UCITS iETF in both Hong Kong and Singapore earned the firm the award for Market Infrastructure Project of the Year, while Citi and BlackRock Aladdin picked up the Asset Servicing Partnership of the Year award. 

Elsewhere, the Digital Asset Initiative of the Year went to Metaco for its Harmonize project, while Proxymity’s efforts across the region earned the firm the Fintech of the Year, APAC accolade.  

HSBC’s Rafael Moral Santiago picked up the prestigious Industry Person of the Year award, while the Lifetime Achievement award was presented to managing director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange of India, Shri Ashish Chauhan – one of the founders of the venue back in 1993.  

There were also three new inductees to the GC Hall of Fame, with BNY Mellon’s Fangfang Chen, State Street’s Mostapha Tahiri, and securities services stalwart Lawrence Au achieving Legendary status on the night. 

The other winners across our Survey awards included ICICI Bank, ICBC, Nuvama Asset Services, SBI-SG Global Securities Services, and QNB Alahi, while Central Depository Services (India), Cobo and Broadridge were successful in the Innovation categories.
