BATS Exchange named Jeromee Johnson vice president, market development. He will initially work with other members of the BATS team to determine whether the firm should develop an electronic derivatives trading platform.
Johnson will relocate to the Kansas City area and will report to Senior Vice President Ken Conklin, global head of business development and marketing. Conklin is based in London. Previously, Johnson was president of 3D Markets. In that role, he was instrumental in the design and launch of Archangel, the first dark pool trading network in U.S. equity options.
Johnson has also served as a senior analyst and consultant with TABB Group. Prior to his stint with TABB, Johnson was director of product development and professional services for UNX, the agency brokerage and provider of electronic trading tools for institutional investors.
At BATS were always looking to add A-list players and were excited to bring a well-established presence like Jeromee on board as we continue to look closely at other asset classes and geographies, says Joe Ratterman, CEO of BATS Exchange and BATS Global Markets.
Jeromees technical knowledge and focus on innovation are just two of the reasons why we expect him to play a significant role in our growth.
Building on its impressive core technology and success in the US and European equities marketplaces, BATS has tremendous opportunities to make markets better in other asset classes and geographic regions. I am delighted to work with the BATS team to help them fulfill this vision, says Johnson.
