The 100 Women in Hedge Funds organisation is to celebrate its fifth anniversary. The 5 February has been marked by Mayor Michael Bloomberg as the official “100 Women in Hedge Funds Day” in New York City in recognition of the contribution the organisation has made in the areas of industry leadership, education and philanthropy.
100 Women in Hedge Funds serves alternative investment management investors and practitioners through unique educational, professional development, networking and philanthropic initiatives. Since its first event in 2002, 100 Women in Hedge Funds has hosted 93 events, connected more than 150 senior women through their Peer Advisory Councils and raised in excess of USD10 million for philanthropic causes in the areas of women’s health, education and mentoring.
“We wouldn’t have made it five months without the tireless commitment of the many individuals and organisations that have led these programs over the past five years — as speakers, hosts, Angels, donors, advisors and volunteer Board and Committee members,” says Dana Hall of D. E. Shaw & Co., L. P.
100 Women in Hedge Funds has grown to over 5,000 members, expanding its network across the globe to include the major financial capitals of New York, London and Hong Kong. The organisation hosts education and networking events in a number of cities throughout the U.S. including Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco and Stamford, CT.
“Through the volunteer efforts of our members, over the past five years we really have made a difference in our industry and community with unique educational programming, professional development initiatives and philanthropy,” adds Carol Kim of Lehman Brothers. “As we go into the next five years, we look forward to expanding the range and scope of our impact globally.”
