Raiffeisen Bank Hires Attila Szalay-Berzeviczy to Advise on CEE Expansion

Raiffeisen Bank International has hired Attila Szalay-Berzeviczy as senior adviser, beginning Feb. 1, 2013, as the Vienna-based securities services provider seeks to expand its footprint in Austria and across Central and Eastern Europe.

Szalay-Berzeviczy, who currently also serves as senior adviser to the president and CEO of Warsaw Stock Exchange, will report to the head of the Institutional Client Division, Harald Kreuzmair. He will advise RBIs Custody and Fund Services line on its strategy become one of the top agent banks in the CEE region.

Szalay-Berzeviczy has held various managerial positions in securities services for the last 19 years. He led the Budapest Stock Exchange between 2004 and 2008 as its president and was the global head of Global Securities services at UniCredit Group until he left at the end of 2011.

“We are looking at our securities services as one of the key areas of the bank where we intend to invest more in the future following our clients’ needs and addressing some strategic consideration, says Klemens Breuer, RBI Markets Board Member. The goal is to turn RBI into one of the leading securities services providers in the CEE region; therefore, we regard Attila Szalay- Berzeviczy’s appointment as an important step towards this direction.
