Fortis has appointed Matthias Tempel as head of Fortis Merchant Banking in Frankfurt. Tempel, who has a PhD in law, has previously worked in the investment banking departments of Credit Agricole Indosuez (now Calyon, Paris) and WestLB (London, Dsseldorf). He joined Fortis in 2001 and became head of Corporate Finance and Capital Markets in Germany. Tempel will retain this position in conjunction with his new tasks.
