Jardine Lloyd Thompson is helping UK trustees meet the 2004 Pensions Act requirements to have a full knowledge and understanding of the laws and regulations in relation to pensions, trusts, their investment strategies and funding abilities by launching Trustee Development Workshops. They aim to provide trustees with an overview of their powers and duties, develop their knowledge and give them an insight into the decisions they will have to make.

“Additional responsibilities and powers have been placed on trustees by legislation over many years and sanctions are imposed on trustees who fail to comply with these requirements,” says Raymonde Nathan, Consulting Director, JLT Benefit Solutions Ltd. “This is made even more important with The Trustee Knowledge and Understanding requirements. All this at a time when more Member Nominated Trustees are expected to come on board as Trustees Added to this are the various Code of best practice requiring trustees to focus more on their responsibilities for investment decision making and the processes involved. This has underlined the need for trustees to have a good working knowledge of what is required of them. The Pensions Regulator will be looking to Trustees to build and assess their own knowledge with only a small time period for knowledge to be gleaned. JLT always seek to assist Trustees in a practicable way.”
