BNP Paribas has made a number of new hires as it continues to build up its prime brokerage business, including Matt Pinnock, who will join the firm in London in May as head of Prime Brokerage Services for Europe and Asia.

Pinnock most recently was co-head of Prime Services Europe and headed Sales & Cap Intro globally at Nomura. Before that, he worked for Lehman Brothers. Pinnock left Nomura when the firm scaled back its European cash prime brokerage business last year. He joined Nomura when the Japanese bank bought the international operations of Lehman Brothers.

BNP Paribas also added two senior professionals to its Asian equity team, based in Hong Kong. James Scully joined in March as head of Securities Lending & Synthetic Sales Trading in Asia ex-Japan. Ashish Patel will join the bank this month as head of Prime Brokerage Client Service.

Our priority is to further deepen our relationships with our core clients and we are as such delighted to be able to welcome these three talented individuals to our teams, says Emmanuel Heurtier, global head of Equity Flow and Financing at BNP Paribas. These hires will add a key dimension to our set-up in an environment which we believe to be particularly positive for BNP Paribas.
