Barclays Global Investors and BlackRock Investment Management have been picked by the Catholic Superannuation and Retirement Fund to manage A$100 million short-term equity market opportunities mandates, Financial Standard reports.

The mandates were allocated to the 120/20 long/short approach BGI Alpha Advantage Equity Fund and the 115/15 strategy BlackRock Australian Quant Strategies Fund.

“CSRF wanted to expand the mandate with our Australian equities managers to allow them the flexibility for some opportunistic shorting, in order to better manage our investment in volatile investment markets,” says CSRF ceo Greg Cantor. The move follows a cut to its listed equities exposure to 55% from 60% in its balanced portfolio last November.
