Prime brokers Cantor Fitzgerald and BNY Mellon’s Pershing are among Jose who will headline Global Custodian’s GC Sessions in New York on 30 November, as well as a number of top fund administrators.

Discussing the rise of prime brokers outside of the bulge bracket firms will be Noel Kimmel, global head of clearing for Cantor Prime Services and Bjorn Franson, vice president of prime services for BNY Mellon’s Pershing.

Firms outside of the top five prime brokers were touted to win a significant number of mandates from hedge funds, which had either been dropped by the big banks or who were struggling to be on-boarded by traditional players.

The panel will discuss whether these firms have capitalised as much as they were predicted to, and what areas they have been able to win clients over the bulge bracket primes.

In addition, debating the future of the hedge fund service provider operating model will be representatives from independent fund administrators.

Panellists include Jorge Hendrickson, head of sales for Opus Fund Services, Daniel Strachman, head of business development at Apex Fund Services and Dan Smith, president of Trident Fund Services. Also joining on the panel will be Harry Stahl, director for strategy and solutions management, investment operations at FIS.

The two panel sessions will take place at The Lighthouse, Pier 61 in New York City, with registration commencing at 4pm ET.
