Clearstream’s vice president for global funding and financing James Cherry has joined Pirum’s business development team in a role focusing on the Securities Finance Transactions Regulation (SFTR).

A spokesperson for Pirum confirmed Cherry’s appointment stating he will be “assisting us with our SFTR, CCP and all other expansion areas.”

Cherry took up his new role earlier this month having spent nearly three years at Clearstream.

He will be based in London and will report to Phillip Morgan, Pirum’s head of business development.

Prior to his role at Clearstream, Cherry spent nearly five years working at RBS in both flow rates and securities finance collateral management.

He also had a spell in the prime brokerage division at Citi between 2007 and 2009.

The appointment is the latest development for Pirum’s SFTR preparation following news earlier this year that it had teamed up with IHS Markit in a bid to offer an SFTR reporting offering.

The offering is aimed at combining Markit Securities Finance’s data handling and management offerings with Pirum Systems’ post-trade reconciliation capabilities in a bid to offer a fully hosted, end-to-end service.
