Northern Trust has poached the head of UK sales from HSBC Securities Services to head up sales for its global fund services business.

Katherine Morris will be responsible for investment operations outsourcing, fund administration and asset servicing solutions provided to investment managers in the UK.

“In an increasingly challenging operating environment, with the need for investment managers to optimise resources and differentiate investment, Morris will focus on the value that Northern Trust can bring,” Northern Trust said.

Prior to her role at HSBC, Morris spent over a decade at State street holding various roles including global relationship manager.

She will report to Douglas Gee, head of sales for Northern Trust’s asset servicing business in Europe.

Laurence Everitt, head of global fund services for the UK at Northern Trust, explained Morris’ experience will be valuable to the firm as it looks to grow the global fund services business in the region.

In February, Northern Trust entered into an agreement to acquire the fund administration servicing business from UBS Asset Management in Switzerland and Luxembourg.

Once completed, the acquisition will see Northern Trust become fund administrator for funds with approximately $413 billion in assets currently serviced by UBS in the two countries.
