Newedge, the futures commission merchant (FCM) for Societe Generale, has appointed Alain Courbebaisse to head its U.S. prime clearing business in New York.

Courbebaisse, Newedge’s former global chief information officer (CIO), will now report to Chris Topple, global head of prime clearing services, and Antoine Babule, head of Americas.

A spokesperson for Newedge confirmed the move.

Courbebaisse served as Newedge’s global CIO for 10 years, and has worked for the group since 1999.

The move comes as Newedge looks to boost its presence within the U.S. prime services unit, after hiring Nick Gionfriddo last month to head its OTC clearing sales for North America.

It also made three appointments to its North America prime brokerage unit in November as part of an overall drive to enhance its services in the region.
