2004 Mutual Fund Administration Survey Results Published

BISYS topped the scoring, followed by Mellon and Investors Bank & Trust (IBT). A total of eleven providers were ranked in all, though responses were received for thirteen providers. Also rated in this year's Survey were Bank of New York, BNP Paribas Securities Services, Brown Brothers Harriman, Citigroup Global Transaction Services, State Street, US Bancorp and new entrants Credit Agricole Investor Services and Dexia Fund Services. One interesting finding from the survey is the fact that in general those providers with the largest exposure to the US market had weaker scores than those with a large European following: the reverse of the result last year, and a reflection perhaps of the difficulties affecting the American mutual fund industry in the wake of a series of scandals which have erupted there since the last survey was conducted.Respondents were asked to rate their administrators in five service areas:
  • Fund Accounting,
  • Fund Reporting,
  • Transfer Agency,
  • Portfolio Servicing,
  • and Client Service.
The survey has grown considerably since 2003, with the total number of responses up two thirds. The survey was conducted between March and April this year. The full results can be found at the Survey Archive section of the site.
