Standard Chartered appoints APAC custody veteran to securities services

Standard Chartered has appointed Colin Brooks as vice chairman for its securities services business.

In his new role Brooks will act as strategic advisor to the business and management team and will also be a member of the securities services management team.

Brooks will also take an active role in the implementation of the new securities services organisation as well as assisting in the re-aligning of Standard Chartered’s client management model.

Brooks initially joined Standard Chartered as a senior advisor in November 2015 following a 26-year spell at HSBC.

During his time at HSBC, Brooks served in various positions including chief operating officer for securities services in the Asia Pacific region and deputy head of securities services in the Asia Pacific region.

His most recent role was as global head of custody and clearing.

Prior to joining HSBC, Brooks also spent five years at the London Stock Exchange between 1985 and 1990.

In his new role, Brooks will report to Margaret Harwood-Jones, global head of securities services and transaction banking.
