Former Blackrock securities chief joins Citadel

Hedge fund giant Citadel has appointed Blackrock’s former global head of securities lending and finance Michael Weaver as COO of its Surveyor Capital equity group.

Weaver, who left his position with Blackrock in December, will be based in New York in his new role.

A spokesperson for Citadel could not be reached at the time of print.

Weaver first joined Blackrock in 2009 as COO of its Fixed Income division. He then led BlackRock’s global securities lending business since February 2013, overseeing its $110 billion alternatives platform. Including prime brokerage, short side trading and derivatives transactions.

Prior to this Weaver also spent nearly eight years as senior vice president at Lehman Brothers holdings.

He was replaced by Roland Villacorta, according to reports from Bloomberg.
